Hoteliers’ confidence in the evolution of sales in the sector remains mired in pessimism. The reasons: falling demand and bad economic situation. Indicator Hospitality Trust (ICH) confirms that employers engaged in the world of restaurants do not portend positive expectations in the coming months before the results of the second quarter of 2010.
The months of April, May and June have not followed the rebound that made the hotel during the first quarter of 2010. What should have been a significant surge by the beginning of the summer period, which is an important season in the Spanish coastal areas for tourism, has not been so buoyant for the innkeepers as expected. According to data from Hospitality Confidence Indicator for the second quarter, employers in the sector have a more negative attitude in the first quarter.
Among the reasons for the disappointment is the loss of sales, which store was down 12% after 26 consecutive months of falls, as pointed to by the ICH. This situation also contribute CIS data, which show the worst records for the perception of current and future economy by the Spanish.
Distrust of the innkeepers also been triggered by the deterioration of the activity over the same period last 2009. A mistrust following the increase in negative responses from employers, to the detriment of the growth of positive responses.
